OPTICAL LEVEL SWITCH is the kind of level sensor consisting of two main parts one is an infrared LED coupled with that of the light transistor and other is the transparent prism tip which is attached to the front.
These switches apply the total reflection principle in the Prism and this reflection or penetration can be considered as the basis of the output of level alarm.
The critical angle is less than the angle of incidence in case when the sensor is surrounded by the air. Thus, this causes the occurrence of total reflection.
